***GIVEAWAY ID NOW CLOSED****thank you
Welcome to my second giveaway for SewMamaSew's 2012 Giveaway Day.
I don't usually talk about myself as I ramble on when I am journaling away on my blog.
I love to sew and craft and currently, I have taken over two and a half rooms in my house in order to play. I also live on an airpark. When we want to go flying, we roll open the hangar doors and pull the plane out. The runway is at the edge of my backyard. Which I also like to play in. I live on an acre where I garden - both flowers and the edible things. The blog has turned out to be a surprisingly good place to put all those flower photos.
This is the most amazing & totally gratifying project out there. It literally takes less than five minutes to create something.
That makes me happy.
I can't recall where I linked from but I did end up here for this transfer tutorial and here to buy my CitraSolv, and here to look at graphics.
Basically, you are transferring a laser image copy (not from an inkjet printer) onto fabric with Citra Solv. You can also transfer the image to wood or leather. Amazingly fun.
Spot the boo boo? I forgot to flip the image so the text reads correctly. Oops. |
How to enter Giveaway 2:
1. Answer this question: What type of airplane do I own?
2. Admittedly, there's a little bias towards my regular readers and my airplane buddies. --only because they are quicker to the mark.
3. I will ship to a winner anywhere in the world - USA or International.
4. Giveaway is open Monday December 3 until 5pm,Friday, December 7th, 2012
5. You might get some bonus apple cider caramels - maybe.

Nice giveaway! My husband is a pilot so I know he will love the flying theme. We do not own our own plane but I know he'd love to someday. Your Stearman Biplane is so neat!
ReplyDeleteI am sure glad some one knew what you flew. I have since gone and read some of your blog posts. You have a Stearman Biplane. I have flown commercial fights only but loved it when I went in a plane. If you ever visit Salt Lake you will have to give me a ride.
ReplyDeleteWhat a fantastic giveaway! These would be absolutely perfect for my grandfather. He is a retired pilot and airplane mechanic. Everyone is always at a loss as to what to get him but I just know he's love these. BTW that is so awesome that you have a Stearman Biplane.
ReplyDeleteObviously you own a Stearman Biplane. :-) I'm wandering through from Sew Mama Sew and loved your towels. I have two brothers who are pilots, and both are awesome in the kitchen as well. It would make an unexpected gift for either/both of them.
ReplyDeleteOh - a chick with a plane?! Yes please :) I must admit that the postal stamp image got my attention before the plane theme, but that was a pretty close shave. You, off course, own a Stearman Biplane!
ReplyDeleteStearman Biplane... just a guess ;) Great giveaway and I love the boo-boo - it proves you are not a robot!
ReplyDeleteA Stearman Biplane.
ReplyDeleteI love these! I actually want to use them to make two super-cool pillows for my boys' room. They would be so thrilled on Christmas morning.
I know you love airplane.
ReplyDeleteBut, I had no idea :D I love to win the towel :D
This has to be my all time favorite giveaway! Both my husband and I are pilots in the Air Force. I fly AC-130s but would love to own a plane like your Stearman Biplane some day. Hopefully I'll win, but glad you posted how to do this so I can craft some of my own. I'm currently resorting a vintage camper named Fifinella (the WASP mascot) and these towls would be perfect for it!
ReplyDeleteApparently, the popular comment answer is a Stearman Biplane ;)
ReplyDeleteMy husband is an aviation mechanic, and thinks that that is very cool. I agree with him, and would love these beautiful towels !
A stearman biplane. :)

I am a tea towel collector, and I love vintage of all kinds. You have a Stearman Biplane. That is sooo cool. Great blog.
ReplyDeleteYou have a Stearman Biplane? My husband would be so jealous. He's a pilot and we live near a Marine base - my 2 yo can describe how "silly" it is that an Osprey looks like a helicopter and flies like an airplane.
ReplyDeleteHello from Minnesota! -I skulked about and found it...it's a Stearman Biplane. I operated an unmanned aircraft for the Army (the RQ7B Shadow.) So it was ground school for me but then my plane wore the 'chute while my boots stayed on the ground! My spouse has solo-ed and we both do dishes so I'm thinking...maybe these cuties should come live with me. :)
ReplyDelete....we both do dishes...
DeleteGood laugh this morning.
I'm going with everyone else and saying Stearman Biplane. Those transfers have turned out so well! I've seen others that seem to be much more faded than that.
ReplyDeleteappaerntly the consens is taht you are flying a Stearman Biplane (though I admit I have no idea what that is - I know that a Boing 747 is biggern than a Cesna) and that in my 6 out of 6 flights none went "normally" so I'm not a big fan anymore. So maybe I need to make myself a "kick in the ass flying is not so bad and it really would save a lot of time" - luggage bag. But looking at some planes in the kitchen will probably inlcude them in "normal" life and make them less frightening.
ReplyDeleteA stearman biplane, my hubby loves to fly too so i think he would actually like these!
ReplyDeleteYou own a Stearman Biplane. I *love* these towels! Thanks for the chance to win!
ReplyDeleteI did not cheat and read the comments above. I poked around your blog and think the answer is a Stearman as well as a J-5.
ReplyDeleteLove those towels. My dad was a pilot in WWII and Korea, so they would be a big hit here.
I will say a stearman biplane!
ReplyDeleteWe live near a small airport - always fun seeing the planes come and go!
Stearman! I see you have many many posts with that tag along with beautiful photos! What a pretty part of the country...
ReplyDeleteMy husband is a former pilot and does all the cooking in our house! He would LOVE these!!! You own a Stearman bi-plane...which, by the way..is SUPER COOL!
ReplyDeleteHi, generous Stearman Biplane owner !
ReplyDeleteThanks for the chance, these tea towels are really great... I hope luck will be on my side !
hello stearman biplane flyer~! i love your towels~! good day to you,
ReplyDeleteangela
Apparently you own a Stearman Biplane!! I have no idea what that is but I'm off to google it!
ReplyDeleteHi Kathy
ReplyDeleteI read your blog for a bit..pretty cool that you're a pilot. And just to make sure I tried to find a post where you talked about your plane...and got it...you own a Stearman.
These flour sacks are neat-o. Thanks for the chance.

My withered brain drew a complete blank when it came to recalling your plane's model. I know it's a vintage biplane, but not the name. I read back through your blog until I found it then "ping!" That's right! It's a Stearman. Then I heard another little "ping!" I could probably just check the previous comments and get the answer quicker. Oh well, it was nice to read back through your posts. :-)
ReplyDeleteLove the airplane towels. What a great way to make a personalized gift for a good friend. Enjoy the rest of the giveaway!
Do you really own a Stearman biplane? That's so cool! Thanks for the giveaway!
ReplyDeleteCan I be a smart aleck and say - One that flies? ;) Those towels are cute - mistake and all. :) Oh and caramels... Be still my heart! :)
ReplyDeleteStearman Biplane? Thanks for the giveaway
ReplyDeleteStearman Biplane. :) Not that I know anything about planes. I have been to the EAA airshow in Oshkosh a couple times, though!

Stearman biplane I do believe is what you have..
ReplyDeleteI think you have a Stearman Biplane.
ReplyDeleteI never would have thought that you could transfer images like that and have them turn out so clear.
My closest neighbour (5 minute walk) lives on the edge of our airstrip and owns the heritage hanger on his property. He too can open his doors and roll his plane onto the runway, but he let his licence lapse so doesn`t do that anymore. It is cool thought when planes fly in and park in his yard. Maybe you`ll do that in your Stearman Biplane some day. I have tried the Citrisolve photo transfer method but haven`t had tons of luck. I`ll have to check your tutorial.
ReplyDeleteI had my husband come and browse your blog with me. He loves planes. It is a Stearman biplane. :)
ReplyDeleteStearman Biplane! What a great project!
ReplyDelete7:00 pm PST. Giveaway is now CLOSED.
ReplyDeleteThank YOU to all who entered. I will pick the winner after work Saturday when I am not so tired.
God Bless!
