Basic Tricks To Take Your Sewing Up A Notch

GIVEAWAY & Random Thoughts Said Out Loud Stay in People's Heads

January 26, 2012, Giveaway is Now CLOSED.
Thank you to everyone who commented and I am sending your chocolates straight away.

Back before Christmas, quite a few customers were shipping nuts to their friends & relatives. Oregon is blessed with abundant Walnut and Filbert (Hazelnut) Trees. We kinda take our nuts for granted.

Other parts of the country have to make do with nuts that have been stored - a long time. We have access to fresh nuts.

And fresh nuts, once they are dried taste way better than a nut that has been in cold storage for three years.

In any case, I told my dream to a couple of my customers; that I have always dreamed of connecting with someone with a Pecan tree and we could exchange nuts.
Pecans don't grow in Oregon and we have to make do with three year old cold-storage pecans. Pecans happen to be my favorite baking nut.

Today, one of my, beyond lovely, customers came in to drop off a bag of Pecans - FOR ME!!!

Out of the blue, she was invited on a train trip with an 82-year-old friend who needed a companion to go down to the southern states. Along the way, they stopped in Louisiana and she remembered my dream.

What an awesome gift.

I am exchanging with her a bag of hazelnuts and walnuts.

How often does someone remember what you say?
What makes them remember you?

This is the best gift I have gotten this year.

I know just what I am going to do with some of these pecans. I am dipping them in dark chocolate for a sweet gift to me AND for you.

GIVEAWAY:
Just because I was taught to share -- I am giving away a small packet of these dark chocolate covered pecans and walnuts.

If you want to be considered, please leave a comment below maybe telling me one nice thing that has happened this week to you.

I will mail the chocolate covered nuts anywhere in the world.
I'll close the comments in  few days.

****Tuesday -January 24th, 2012.
Heads up:  I got called into work for a few days - I will close the giveaway tomorrow and hopefully mail out Thursday. Thank you all for the lovely comments.

  1. Oh, I wish I would have known you wanted pecans. I have two pecan trees. So. Many. Nuts. If you send me your addy I could send you out a small package with some of the spiced/sugared pecans I make. I have a couple other people to send them out to come payday, so I can pop a package in the mail to you as well.

  2. And please don't feel the need to enter my comment in the drawing. I have pecans coming out my ears. Save them for someone who doesn't get to indulge in pecans on a daily basis.

  4. I came to your blog via Crafty Tokyo Mama's blog. :) If my name happens to come up for your generous giveaway, I would love if you sent the candy to her. She always shows such nice photos from her part of the world, and I am sure both she and her little daughter would love your candy. :)

    Greetings from Germany,
    Birgit

  5. I love your blog. I saw it on 'Crafty Tokyo Mama's' blog. I know here from California. :-) I have been to a place called Somis Nut House over the years (my dad would stop there on the way back from the beach sometimes as a treat) but they are neither cheap nor close by to my home. So, I've tasted lots of nut-chocolate mixes but I don't think I've ever tasted pecan nuts! :-P I'm sure they are yummy.

I'm sure there are a lot of nice things that happen the the last week. Two that I can think of; 1- My daughter made me a note saying, 'You are the best mommy in the whole wide world and I love you.' and my son did some extra chores this weekend to help me get everything done before Monday hit us. :-) I am also loving that we finally got some rain today. I love when everything is wet and clean. :-)

My blog is www.deborahdennert@blogspot.com if you want to follow. I'm a few weeks behind- happens with homeschooling, but will catch up soon.

  6. What a nice idea! Something special that happened last week was that my husband made dinner! I was gone teaching 4-H sewing, and when I came home there he was in the middle of dinner! It might not sound like a big deal, but he was being very supportive. Plus, the last thing I wanted to think about was fixing food.

  7. That is an awesome story!

The nicest thing that happened to me this week was somebody stopping to give me a ride when I was struggling to haul groceries across town with a broken bag. I wasn't even trying to hitchhike.
